Résumé

The Act defines the Continental Shelf and claims rights of Trinidad and Tobago with respect to the delimited area. The Continental Shelf is defined as "the seabed and subsoil of the areas adjacent to the coast of the island of Trinidad and the island of Tobago and all other islands within Trinidad and Tobago but outside the area of the territorial sea to a depth of two hundred metres and beyond that limit to where a depth of the superjacent waters admits the exploitation of the natural resources of said areas" (sect. 2). Section 3 regulates the exploration and exploitation of the Shelf. Section 5 provides for the application of criminal and civil law of Trinidad and Tobago in areas designated by the President under section 3(6). (13 sections)
