Résumé

Article 2a is hereby added to Decision 2005/734/EC laying down biosecurity measures to reduce the risk of transmission of highly pathogenic avian influenza from birds living in the wild to poultry and other captive birds and providing for an early detection system in areas at particular risk. This new provision establishes further conditions that Member States must ensure that are complied with in the areas of their respective territories that have been identified as being particularly at risk for the introduction of avian influenza. Such conditions include the following: (a) the keeping of poultry in the open air shall be prohibited without undue delay; (b) the poultry shall not be provided with water from surface water reservoirs accessed by wild birds, unless such water was treated to ensure inactivation of possible virus; (c) outdoor water reservoirs required for animal welfare reasons for certain poultry are shall be sufficiently screened against wild waterfowl.
