Coalbed Gas Act ([SBC 2003] Chapter 18). Pays/Territoire Canada Sous-division territoriale British Columbia Type du document Législation Date 2003 Source FAO, FAOLEX Sujet Énergie, Ressources minérales Mot clé Gaz naturel Exploitation minière Charbon Aire géographique Amériques, Arctique, Asie et Pacifique, Pacifique du Est, Amérique du Nord, Atlantique Nord Résumé The present Act lays down provisions relating to coalbed gas. For the purpose of this Act “coalbed gas” means all substances (a) that can be recovered to the surface through a wellbore from subsurface coal deposits and any reservoirs in communication with the coal deposits, and (b) the volume of which, if measured at the surface immediately following that recovery, would be measured as a gas. It should be noted that natural gas is considered to be a mineral, and coalbed gas is natural gas. In particular, section 4 establishes that natural gas tenure, whether made before or after the coming into force of this Act, includes any coalbed gas rights, whereas a coal tenure, whether made before or after the coming into force of this Act, does not include any coalbed gas rights.
