Résumé

The object of this Act is to protect indigenous plant and animal species from extinction. It prohibits, subject to exceptions, the taking, engaging in commercial activity with, holding possession of or exporting of any threatened or endangered species of plant or animal or parts thereof designated as such under this Act or any Regulation issued under it. The Act shall be administered by the Director of the Department of Land and Natural Resources through the Division of Forestry and Marine Conservation. “Animals” shall include fish and “plants” shall include trees. The Act also prohibits the importation of any species of endangered or threatened plant or animal or parts thereof listed by CITES and requires a permit of the Director of the Department of Land and Natural Resources for the importation of alien species.
