Résumé

This Regulation prescribes the procedures and criteria according to which the Registry of Seamen of valsts akciju sabiedrības "Latvijas Jūras administrācija" [State joint stock company Maritime Administration of Latvia] shall certify seafarers. This Regulation shall apply to all seafarers wishing to be certified in the Republic of Latvia. Upon certifying seafarers, the Latvian Registry of Seamen shall organise an assessment of competency of seafarers, granting of a specific qualification or revalidation thereof and issue a certificate of competency, an endorsement of the certificate of competency, a certificate of proficiency or the national certificate of competency, as well as register such certificates and the documents related to the issuance thereof. Notably, the Regulation provides for certification of the personnel of a fishing vessel.
