Résumé

The present Act lays down provisions relating to the prevention, collection, transportation and treatment of waste. Aims and principles of the present Act are as follows: 1) to organize waste management in Burgenland complying with the principles of protection of the environment in the light of waste prevention and sustainability; 2) to reduce quantities of waste and their harmful substances; to recycle waste if possible at reasonable cost; not recyclable waste is subject to treatment and storage; 3) to collect, store, transport and treat waste, if it is of public interest. The text consists of 71 articles divided into 10 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Objectives, principles and measures of waste management (II); Planning and implementing tasks related to waste management (III); Collection and treatment of waste (IV); Waste treatment plants (V); Duties and prohibitions (VI); Waste Management Association of Burgenland (VII); Contributions to be paid to the said Association (VIII); Fees to be paid for the use of waste collecting centres and waste treatment plants; duty to report (IX); Penalties, transitional and final provisions (X).
