It aims to make adequate provision for the protection of wild animals and birds in the State of Bombay and specifies the prohibition to perform the following activities: capture any wild animal or bird, or kill or injure any of these animals; hunt for any game; sell or buy, or offer to sell or buy, or to possess any such animal or bird; sell or buy, or to offer to sell or to buy or the possess any trophy of such animal or bird. Any Forest Officer or Police Officer may require any person to produce for inspection any animal, bird, meat or trophy in his possession or any licence issued; enter any premises, land, vehicle or vessel in the occupation of such person and search any baggage or other things in this possession; seize any animal, bird, meat or trophy together with any vehicle, weapon, trap or tools reasonably suspected to have been used for committing an offence, etc. The Schedules list all wild animals to be protected.
