The objective of these Regulations is to ensure that potential adverse effects of GMO’s are addressed to protect human health and the environment when conducting contained use. The Regulations, among other things, define containment measures, which the implementation of which shall be ensured by the National Biosafety Authority, provide for classification of containment levels and require research institutions undertaking contained use activities to establish an Institutional Biosafety Committee.
