Résumé Bio-medical waste includes any waste due to the diagnosis, treatment or immunisation of humans and animals, in related research activities and in the manufacturing or testing of biological substances like: products deriving from organisms or micro-organisms or metabolites and biochemical reactions, drugs and medications. Every facility involved in medical or veterinarian research, or in biopharmaceutical production of medications, vaccines or other biological substances used in the treatment of humans or animals must provide the correct disposal of those hazardous wate. Even laboratories performing blood tests or blood banks must be compliant with the present rules. Bio medical waste must be separately collected, transported, sorted, stored, treated and disposed of in special bio-medical waste facilities. These facilities must be authorised by the competent authority and the authorization timeline shall be renewable every three years. The bio medical waste shall be incinerated or processed by microwave or autoclave.
