This Plan enters into force on 1 February 1998.

Résumé

This Plan regulates commercial and sport fishing for barramundi. The Minister may, from time to time by notice in the Gazette, establish a barramundi licence buy-back scheme whereby a barramundi licensee, in exchange for a determined consideration, transfers or surrenders to the Territory all or any units of gillnetting specified on the licence. A barramundi licensee shall fish for barramundi under a barramundi licence only during the open season and within an established fishing area (arts. 8 and 9). Other articles contain provisions relative to minimum size limit, identification of gillnet, minimum mesh size, and use of gillnet, amateur fishing, fishing for the aquarium trade. (Schedules: anchorage areas, seasonally closed area, fish management zone, river closure lines)
