This Act underlines that antibiotics shall only be issued with the prescription of a medical practitioner, dentist or veterinary surgeon, and every prescription shall include the words “for animal treatment only” if given by a veterinary surgeon. Moreover, an importer of antibiotics may only sell or transfer any antibiotic to medical practitioner, dentist, veterinary surgeon or to any person who is the holder of a licence to store antibiotics granted under this Act.
