Résumé The purpose of the present Act is to ensure the protection of animals. An animal is in distress if it is: a) deprived of adequate food, water, care or shelter; b) injured, sick, in pain or suffering; or c) abused or neglected. Section 3 lays down provisions relating to the establishment of humane societies taking care of animals. Furthermore, the Act deals with issues such as inspections of distressed animals, authority to enter, identification, destruction of animals. The Act consists of 28 sections divided into 4 Parts.
