Résumé

This Regulation, composed of 26 sections and two Annexes, gives definitions and makes provision for the correct transportation of animals and poultry by sea. Sections 1 and 2 give name and definitions to this Regulation. Section 3 establishes that this Regulation shall have power over shipments of animals and poultry from and to Israel, unless a shipment has entered the Israeli waters for less than 18 hours. Section 4 lists the parts of ships in which is prohibited to transport animals and poultry. Section 6 regards paddocks and boxes for animals on ships. Section 7 provides with space needed for animals and poultry on ships. Section 8 prohibits over-loading the ship in a way that can result harmful to the animals. Sections 9-13 regard pass ways, aeration, lighting, food and water for the animals during transportation on ship. Section 14 establishes that species must be separated during transportation. Section 16 regards the appointment of animal assistants in addition to the ship personnel. Section 17 regards canalisations for animal urine and rinsing waters. Section 18 concerns fire prevention and extinction procedures. Section 19 regards procedures for the unloading of animals from the ship. Section 20 regards animal slaughtering facilities on the ship. Section 21 regards procedures related to injured animal. Section 22 sets procedures for animals that died suring transportation to Israel. Captain must inform the governmental veterinarian in the port of destination. Section 23 regards the reporting of any animal death during transportation. Report shall include total numbers of animals on departure date, total number of deaths, causes of death and dates Section 24 prohibits the boarding of ill, injured or pregnant animals. Section 25 regards the submission of a declaration, signed by the captain, upon animal landing, to the competent governmental veterinarian. Section 26 regards penalties. Annex I and II regard poultry housing procedures and have been omitted.
