Résumé

This Regulation of the council of the Amhara Regional Government, made in accordance with the powers vested in it under the provisions of art. 34 of the Urban and Rural drinking Water Supply and Sewerage Services Reorganization Proclamation No. 82/2003, provide with respect to water supply and sewerage services. The only organ authorized to provide safe drinking water to urban dwellers, in accordance with the proclamation and this Regulation, shall be a Water Supply and Sewerage Service. Water shall be controlled and supplied as provide for in this Regulation. Any drinking Water Supply and Sewerage Service may, in consultation with the appropriate bodies, enclose a water point within the limit of a certain radius so as to protect the water from possible contamination thereof. A drinking Water Supply and Sewerage Service may outsource activities. The Regulation also makes provision with respect to, among other things: waterworks; classification and organization of urban and rural drinking water supply and sewerage services; representation of water-user communities on the managing board of the drinking water supply and sewerage service; transparency of service delivery; preventing wastage of water; provisions of sewage disposal services; potable water supply and quality standard.
