The present Act has been proclaimed in force on 1 January 2010.
Résumé

The purpose of the present Act is to promote and provide for the strategic and effective use of funding and other resources to meet the research and innovation priorities of the Government in the areas of agriculture, forestry, energy and the environment. Section 3 establishes the Alberta Research and Innovation Authority whose purpose is to provide strategic advice and recommendations to the Minister on research and innovation matters relating to the purposes of the present Act. The text – consisting of 19 sections – deals, inter alia, with the following aspects: definitions, purpose, Alberta Research and Innovation Authority, Alberta Research and Innovation Committee, Cross-Government Portfolio Advisory Committee, establishment of research and innovation corporations, duty of care, records and accounts, directives, Endowment Funds, transitional provisions, dissolution and winding-up of existing entities.
