The Order, among other things, provides for: notification of suspected African horse sickness; measures if the disease is suspected or confirmed on premises; establishment of area controls by way of declaration of different zones by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; vaccination and declaration of a vaccination zone; measures regarding non-captive horses; and controls in slaughterhouses. The Regulations amend a provision of the Specified Diseases (Notification) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004 insofar as it applies to African horse sickness virus.
