Health protection, interests of consumers and fair market competition are also considered. This Act applies to food, to food and tobacco additives and tobacco products as well. Provisions of this Act are to be applied together with special provisions of law regarding wine, beer, spirit, alcoholic beverages, seasoning paprika, coffee, bottled drinking water and mineral water. Chapter I deals with general conditions of food production. Chapter II deals with quality requirements and with adulteration. It contains regulations regarding the Hungarian Food Codex (Codex Alimentarius Hungaricus). Marketing conditions are set forth in Chapter III. Packaging rules and measures for consumer information are regulated in Chapter IV. Chapter V deals with food control by the competent authorities. Chapter VI determines measures and sanctions (e.g. quality protection fine) in case of infringement of provisions of this Act and other laws.
