Its aims to speed up the licensing procedure for projects that affect the environment. It applies to the handling of permits pursuant to the Environmental Protection Act (527/2014), the Water Act (587/2011), the Land Act (555/1981), the Mining Act (621/2011), the Nature Conservation Act (1096/1996), Act on land use and building (132/1999) and Act on safety measures when handling hazardous chemicals and explosives (390/2005). If an environmental permit is required for the implementation of a project, according to the Environmental Protection Act, permit under the Water Act or permit for activities in accordance with the Land Act, the processing of the permit application at the applicant's request can be coordinated with applications for the following permits: 1) Exemption law pursuant to sections 31 and 48 and section 49, subsection 3. in the Nature Conservation Act, 2) building permits pursuant to section 125 of the Land Use and Construction Act, as well as a permit for operations in accordance with section 126, demolition permit for buildings according to section 127 and permits for environmental measures pursuant to section 128 of that law; 3) ore mining permit pursuant to section 9 of the Mining Act and mining permit according to section 16 and gold washing permit according to section 22 of that law; 4) permits for extensive industrial handling and storage of a hazardous chemical in accordance with section 23 of the Act on Safety in the Management of Dangerous Chemicals and Explosive Goods and permits for the manufacture and storage of explosive products in accordance with Section 58 of that Act. The regional administration is a coordinating authority, if the coordination applies to the processing of a permit under the Water Act or such permit according to the Environmental Protection Act to be decided by that authority. In other cases, the municipal environmental authority is the coordinating authority. The applicant shall request coordination of the permit procedures before the permit application is announced.
