Résumé

The Act sets rules on the compensation for damages caused by storms, floods from lakes and/or watercourses, including the financial subsidy for the reforestation on private forest reserve areas damaged by storms. Subsidy may be granted to private owners, however it shall not be granted to indirect loss of livestock (except animals bred in fish farms), property and harbors and the likes. A special council shall be established – the Storm Council – to administer and grant subsidies. The Council shall provide funding to parts of areas hit by storm and equivalent to 1/60 of the vegetated forest – including temporary non-vegetated areas (at least 0.5 hectares for each forest). The Coastal Authority and the Danish Meteorological Institute are responsible for flood warning and requests, providing assistance to the Storm Council. Coverage of Coastal Directorate and Danish Meteorological Institute expenses shall take effect from 1 January 2000 (article 29, section 2).
