Résumé

The Act's purpose is to establish Denmark's National Human Rights Institution with the aim to promote and protect human rights in accordance with the UN Paris Principles applicable to national human rights institutions established by the Institute for Human Rights. Among its promotions for the protection of human rights in peace and armed conflicts: monitoring and reporting on human rights; advice to the Parliament, Government and other public authorities on human rights; promote the coordination and assistance to civil society organizations working on human rights; provide library facilities on human rights; assist victims of discrimination in pursuing their appeals and of associations, organizations or other legal entities. The Institute for Human Rights is regulated by a board of directors (13 members) elected each four years, and acting on all essential issues on the academic, economic and management work of the Institute. The board shall nominate one director. The Act does not apply to the Faroe Islands nor to Greenland.
