Résumé

This Act, consisting of 33 articles, provides for defining the composition of certain alcoholic products, for control over the sale, the import and the export of these products. The Act establishes the Wine and Spirit Board, as the body responsible for defining matters relating to marketing of wine and alcoholic products. The Act concerns: restriction on sale of certain alcoholic products; specific requirements concerning wine; requirements concerning alcoholic fruit beverages, spirits and grape-based liquors; conditions to issue licences regarding alcoholic products; use of certain particulars in connection with the sale of liquor products, including use of the name of the area where viticulture is practised, or the designation of any vine cultivar, use the name of any country, or a word or expression containing such name indicating that such liquor product is a product of a country other than the country of origin thereof; prohibition of false or misleading descriptions for liquor products; prescriptions for labelling; provisions of schemes for wine and other alcoholic products, including respect of quality standards defined by the Board; restriction on the importation and exportation of certain alcoholic products; power of entry, inspection and seizure; offences and penalties; limitation of liability; amendment of related Acts, including the Wine and Spirits Control Act, no. 47 of 1970.
