Entry into force notes: This Act enters into force on 1 September 2009.

Résumé: This Act, which is composed of 21 articles and one Annex, establishes: (a) the manner of promotion and conditions of promotion of the production of electricity from renewable energy sources, electricity from high efficiency cogeneration, and biomethane; (b) rights and obligations of producers of electricity from renewable energy sources, electricity from cogeneration, electricity from high efficiency cogeneration, and biomethane; (c) right and obligations of other participants of the market of electricity and gas. Renewable energy source is a non-fossil energy source for which the potential energy is continuously renewed with natural processes or human activities, and includes the following sources: hydropower, solar energy, wind, geothermal energy, biomass products, biogas, landfill gas, sewage water, and biomethane.
