Résumé

This Act is divided into 32 articles and 9 sections. It introduces a new regime which covers several aspects of the appellation of origin of wines: (a) utilization of the appellations of origin (D.O.C. and D.O.C.G.) and typical geographical areas; (b) classification; (c) territorial delimitation of the area concerned; (d) coexistence of different types of wines within the same area; (e) granting and withdrawal of the appellation of origin; (f) production rules; (g) chemical and physical analysis and organoleptic characteristics; (h) inventory of vineyards; (i) establishment of the National Committee for the safeguard and enhancement of the appellation of origin and typical geographical indication of wines. The Committee has advisory and executive powers and consists of one inter-professional and one administrative section. For every appellation of origin or typical geographical indication the Act states the establishment of voluntary consortia in order to assure the compliance with the provisions of the law.
