Part I contains general provisions. Regulation 4 formulates a responsibility of the occupier of an abattoir to ensure compliance with these Regulations, and the duty to take reasonable precaution to prevent the contamination of meat in the abattoir and comply with reasonable directions of authorised officer for the purposes of these Regulations. Part II defines requirements for construction of abattoirs and the facilities and equipment therein. The supply of clean potable water shall satisfy the requirements of the European Communities (Quality of Water Intended for Human Consumption) Regulations, 1988 (S.I. No. 81 of 1988).
