Resumen

This Title of Article 15 of the Environmental Conservation Law of New York (the Article 15 being known as the Water Resources Law of New York) concerns wild, scenic and recreational rivers system. It declares to be the policy of the state of New York that certain selected rivers of the state which, with their immediate environs, possess the aforementioned characteristics, shall be preserved in free-flowing condition and that they and their immediate environs shall be protected for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations. The purpose is to implement this policy by instituting a state wild, scenic and recreational rivers system, by designating the initial components of that system and by prescribing the methods by which and standards according to which additional components may be added to the system from time to time. Specifically, it regulates jurisdiction of the commissioner of environmental conservation of New York and the Adirondack park agency; classes of river areas includable in system, criteria, and management objectives; administration of the system; establishing boundaries; and other procedural matters.
