Resumen This Wheat Sector Development Programme (WSDP) is a nationwide setoral document aiming to help Afghanistan reach self-sufficiency in the domestic supply of wheat by 2030. Main goal for the country are (i) increase wheat harvests: (ii) improve the efficiency of the wheat value chain: and (iii) chart a road map for reaching self-sufficiency in the domestic supply of wheat. The goal will be reached through (i) improving the quality of domestically produced flour by introducing new superior wheat varieties; (ii) modernizing the wheat milling industry; (iii) upgrading of wheat marketing practices, including market price information collection and dissemination, improvement of the market infrastructure, transportation and storage and the elimination of weak links in the supply chain; and (iv) improving the governance of the wheat sector.
