Entry into force notes

The present Regulations shall enter into force on the date of publication in the Official Gazette; the provisions of Regulations No. 12 shall come into force on such date as the Minister may, by Notice in the Gazette, determine.

Resumen

For the purposes of aligning the Cypriot legislative frame with Council Directive 87/217/EEC on the prevention and reduction of environmental pollution by asbestos, the present Regulations are made pursuant to article 34 of the Water Pollution Control Law of 2002. The regulations set forth conditions and criteria for authorization to dispose asbestos or by-products containing asbestos. Also, they establish the methods of monitoring, analysis and sampling. The Minister shall be responsible for the monitoring of the aquatic environment and shall provide the European Commission with information related therewith.
