Resumen

A body corporate called the Montserrat Water Authority is established under section 3. It shall be the function of the Authority to promote the conservation and proper use of water resources in Montserrat and to provide an adequate water supply. The Authority shall, however, not be liable for any failure in water supply unless such failure is due to a wilful default of the Authority or any of its servants or agents (sect. 11). The Governor in Council may define areas in which special water conservation measures apply. In such areas no person shall carry out any of the acts listed in section 17. The Authority may by agreement approved by the Governor in Council acquire rights to take water from any watercourse or the Governor in Council may, by Order and on the request of the Authority provide for the compulsory acquisition of such rights (sect. 19). Duties of the Authority in relation to the supply of water are spelled out in section 22. The Authority shall have the sole and exclusive right to sell water for domestic consumption (sect. 23). Water supply may be cut in certain cases in accordance with provisions of section 30. The Authority may make regulations generally and specified.
