Resumen

This By-law aims at protecting the health of consumers and food handlers, and preventing the spreading of animal diseases through animal products and through establishments where animal products or feed are collected and distributed. For this purpose the DAHO/DVO shall establish and maintain a register of all establishments where edible animal products are processed, handled, packed, stored, transported or marketed. The competent authorities shall give advices on the following: (a) hygiene procedures to be followed in the operation and maintenance of establishments; (b) installation, repair and substitution of equipment and utensils; (c) legal requirements and restrictions on the handling and storage of animal products, especially in time of disease epidemics; (d) cleaning and disinfection methods. Specific provisions regard establishments where fresh meat is handled, dairy establishments, premises where cheese, butter or ghee are prepared and milk collecting and sale points. Commercial feed mixing and feed trade establishments shall be regularly inspected to ensure the wholesomeness and the nutritional value of the products concerned. Final provisions establish the penalties to be applied in case of violation and the fees to be paid for any inspection made under the provisions of the By-law.
