Resumen Pedigree stallion sperm withdrawn at the artificial insemination factories that are kept under permanent supervision of state veterinary service of the exporting country is admitted to the territory of the Russian Federation. Keeping of animals and withdrawal of pedigree stallion sperm must be carried out in compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements currently in force. Pedigree stallions must be kept at the artificial insemination factories for 6 months before withdrawal of sperm and must not be used for natural insemination for all this period of time. Pedigree stallions must not have been fed by feedstuffs produced with the use of genetically modified additives or other genetically modified sources. Stallions must not be vaccinated against rinopneumonia. Sperm must be free of pathogenic and toxic micro-organisms. The compliance with these Veterinary and sanitary requirements must be certified by veterinary certificate, signed by the state veterinary inspector of the exporting country and composed in the language of the country of origin and in Russian. Veterinary certificate must contain the date and the results of diagnostic examinations. Sperm destined for export must be packed and transported in special containers (vessels) filled with liquid nitrogen. Dispatch of sperm to the Russian Federation is possible only after the authorization issued to the importer by Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
