Resumen

This Chapter of the Code of Virginia concerns the Tobacco Board which is established within the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services of Virginia. It provides rules for composition and appointment of members and determines the powers and duties of the Board. Notably, the Board plans and conducts campaigns of education, advertising, publicity, sales promotion, and research to increase the demand for, and the consumption of, bright fluecured and type 21 dark-fired tobaccos in Virginia. The Chapter also establishes two special nonreverting funds known as the Bright Flue-Cured Tobacco Promotion Fund and the Dark-Fired Tobacco Promotion Fund. Moneys in the funds must be used solely for the purposes set forth in this Chapter. Finally, the Chapter provides rules for levying excise taxes on bright flue-cured and all type 21 dark-fired tobacco from the warehouse or handler where and when the tobacco is first sold.
