Further, to make environmental impact assessment of pond, prepare integrated plan for development of pond, promote community participation and to develop infrastructure for utilization of pond water. The Act requires forming a District Consultation and Monitoring Committee in every district. The Act prohibits certain activities like dumping debris and industrial waste etc. in and around ponds. The government has the power to declare area around a pond as protected area. The government may also form a Pond and Waste Water Management Committee at village level if deemed necessary.
