Resumen This Regulation is composed of 7 articles. Articles 1 and 2 deal with terms and definitions. Article 4 entrusts the Ministry of Environment with the management of solid wastes. Its competencies and duties are to: (a) prepare plans related to the management of solid waste and lay down necessary programmes for their implementation; (b) define the requirements for equipment and instruments used for the management of solid waste; (c) define the methods for the re-qualification of solid waste dumps; (d) carry out studies and gather information related to the management of solid waste; (e) organize public cleaning campaigns; and, (f) carry out programmes related to training and enlightenment in the field of solid waste. Article 5 specifies the obligations of the departments concerned in the management or production of solid wastes. Articles 6 and 7 entrust the Ministry of Environment to define dump sites for solid wastes and to issue the necessary implementing regulations.
