Resumen This Act, consisting of 47 Sections, aims to establish the Social Workers’ Association of Zambia, registered under the Societies Act. Its main functions encompass (i) registering and regulating social workers to ensure professional conduct; (ii) representing, coordinating, and advancing the social work profession while advocating for its interests; (iii) recommending appropriate qualification standards to relevant institutions; (iv) elevating the integrity and standing of the social work profession; (v) promoting adherence to international standards in social work; (vi) collaborating with organizations focused on developing practice standards; (vii) researching social work-related topics; (viii) investigating instances of professional misconduct by social workers; (ix) collaborating with higher education institutions, government departments, and other entities to enhance the quality of the social work profession. To practice as a social worker it is required to be registered under this Act. Section 8 constitutes the Council of the Association, responsible for the management and control of the affairs of the Association. Under Section 11, it is established that an inspector may, to enforce a provision of this Act, at any reasonable time, without prior notice, enter any premises that the inspector has reasonable grounds to believe is used by a social worker for the commission of an offense or contrary to this Act for inspections deemed necessary.
