Resumen This Law consisting of 34 articles aims at (i) elevating Iraqi society to the ranks of developed societies; (ii) raising the living level of individuals and families who live below the poverty line; (iii) creating a system of social solidarity; (iv) establishing a social security system for non-workers; (v) providing social services in the fields of education, health, housing; (vi) ensuring that the umbrella of social protection reaches all categories covered by its provisions; (vii) providing psychological and material stability for individuals and their families, and ensuring an income in cases of disability, old age, death and loss of ability to work. The Law also aims to prepare those who can work among the beneficiaries through training and rehabilitation programs that enable them to integrate into the labor market. It applies to Iraqi families and individuals who live below the poverty line, and nationals of other States residing in the Republic of Iraq permanently, continuously, legally, and in need of social protection. The categories, detailed in article 1, are granted the amount of the cash benefit specified in the Attachment of the Law if they do not have an income.
