Resumen This Act aims at promoting and advancing the social and economic well-being of vulnerable persons by establishing a legal framework for the development, implementation and maintenance of accessible, efficient, sustainable and responsible social protection programmes; promoting poverty reduction; and promoting beneficiaries who are able to be retrained to create an enabling environment for self-sufficiency. To this end, this Act lays down provisions on the establishment, composition, functions and powers of the Social Protection Board; the establishment, functions, powers and audit of the Social Protection Fund; the establishment, composition, functions and powers of the Social Protection Commission and the establishment of Advisory committees to give advice to the Commission on specialised matters relating to the Commission’s functions; eligibility and conditions applicable to social protection assistance; the establishment, composition, functions and powers of Appeals Tribunal; secrecy and confidentiality of all documents, information or matters disclosed in the administration of this Act; and offences and penalties for the violation of the provisions of this Act.
