Discharge requires a Public Sewer Discharge Permit to be issued by the Chief Executive of the Malta Resources Authority (reg. 4). Regulation 5 places restrictions on discharge regarding the contents and composition of effluent. Regulations 7, 8 and 9 contain rules regarding the application for a permit. Regulation 10 imposes a requirement on any person who discharges trade effluent into the public sewerage system to provide all information as reasonably may be required to the Chief Executive. Powers of that public officer are also outlined in regulation 10. Schedules A,B, and C contain further standards for discharge of toxic substances, including pesticides.
