Resumen

This Act amends the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 for purposes of strengthening the strategy and related actions aimed at providing safe water and sanitation to vulnerable groups in developing countries. There shall be within USAID a Global Water Coordinator, who shall, among other things, lead the implementation and revision, not less frequently than once every five years, of USAID’s portion of the Global Water Strategy. Within the Department of State there shall be a Special Advisor for Water Resources. Amendments of the Foreign Assistance Act also concern measures to ensure maximum impact and long-term sustainability of programs and require the President, acting through the Secretary of State, the USAID Administrator, and the heads of other Federal departments and agencies, as appropriate, to submit every five years (starting 2017, ending 2027) to Congress a single government-wide Global Water Strategy. This Act sets out how the Global Water Strategy must be developed.
