This Resolution enters into force a month after the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Resumen

This Resolution regulates the import of chilled and frozen meat (cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, camels and pigs) from the list of countries recognized by the OIE as free of contamination. The use of hormones and steroids is regulated by the provisions of the Codex Alimentarius. The Resolution defines the requirements for the registration of the foreign establishments wishing to export their products to Lebanon. A recent HACCP or an ISO22000 are necessary to this aim in addition to a list of other requirements. The general specifications for the packaging, labelling and transport of the meat are listed in the text. The Resolution defines the conditions for the import and for the shipment. It specifies the documents required to accompany the imported meat. All the requirements of Resolution No. 57/1 of 20 February 2006 regarding the sampling methods of animal food products shall be respected. The conditions of transport and sales within Lebanon are also listed in the text. Further requirements are needed for the import of meat slaughtered by the Islamic method (halal).
