Resumen This Act, consisting of 27 sections divided into ten Chapters, establishes the requirements for carrying out the Domestic Shipping in the maritime water under the jurisdiction of Philippine. The Act establishes in particular the financial aspect to be put in place to have a competitive domestic merchant fleet owned and controlled by Filipinos or by corporations at least 60% of the capital of which is owned by Filipinos and manned by qualified Filipino officers and crew. The Act is divided as follows: General Provisions; Investment incentives; Deregulation of the Domestic Shipping Industry-Authority of the Maritime Industry Authority; Rates; Compulsory Insurance Coverage; Prohibited Acts and Practices; Fees, Fines and Penalties; Shipbuilding and Ship Repair; Transitory and Final Provisions.
