The renewable energy is defined as an energy that is obtained from non depleting source including wind, solar, hydro, biomass, bio-fuel, landfill gas, sewage gas, geothermal energy, ocean energy and any other energy source designated in writing by the Minister. The Energy Commission shall be responsible to advise on renewable energy matters, create a platform for collaboration between the government and the private sector and civil society, recommend for exception from customs and levies and promote the local manufacture of components to facilitate the rapid growth of renewable energy sources. For activity in the renewable energy sector a license is required that is granted under the provision of this Act. The renewable energy fund shall be established for providing financial resources for the promotion, development and utilisation of the renewable energy sources.
