Resumen This Regulation determines the contents of the Serbian monitoring programme aimed for monitor the state of fish stocks in national fishing waters. The monitoring programme includes: 1) data on fishing waters with a description of locations that were examined (GPS coordinates, altitude, etc.); 2) basic biological characteristics of fishing waters of the fishing area: presence of certain macrophytes, dominant species and biomass of phytoplankton, dominant species and biomass of zooplankton, dominant species of macrozoobenthos, other important animal species that have an impact on fish stocks (crabs, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals); 3) types of freshwater in terms of ichthyocenotic altitude zoning and division of waters according to the composition of fish stock into salmonid and cyprinid waters; 4) data on the composition of fish stocks: quantitative composition of fish stocks (systematized by rows, families, etc. with a percentage/share of each species in total biomass and abundance), biomass and annual production of represented fish species with special reference to the most important fishing species for which the catch is permanently prohibited (expressed in kg/ha or kg/km of river flow); 5) list of fish hatcheries; 6) permitted fishing by species and quantities of fish based on the annual increment of the fish stock; and 7) list of potential pollutants in examined fishing waters. When choosing the place and time of sampling, it is necessary to take into account the diversity of habitat types in a particular fishing area as well as seasonal specifics. Fish sampling is performed with an electric generator that leads to reversible electronarcosis of fish, among other listed techniques. When sampling macrophytes, it is necessary to describe habitats and basic species, as well as the percentage of fishing water coverage. For all sampled fishing waters, the Shannon-Wiener ichthyofauna diversity index should be reported. Sampling and data processing is performed according to standard methods in fishing, ichthyology, fishery biology, inland water ecology and in accordance with the monitoring requirements of the European Environment Agency.
