Resumen

Chuga protection area of the Olekminsky state nature reserve with limited economic activities is formed in order to preserve the unique natural complexes of the upper reaches of the Chuga River and the lower course of the Nelyuka River, protection of waterfowl on the flights, spawning grounds of valuable fish species, the routes of seasonal migratory wild ungulates, habitats of economically valuable and rare animal species. Protected zone shall have the total area of the buffer zone is 49,600 hectares. The territory of the protection zone shall have special protection regime ensured by the guard service of the state reserve "Olekminsky". Chuga protection area of the Olekminsky state nature reserve shall perform the following tasks: (a) conservation of valuable natural complexes; (b) reduction of negative impact of economic activities on natural complexes; (c) improvement of natural habitats of rare, endangered and particularly valuable wild fauna and wild flora species; (d) diversion of surplus animals in a nature reserve for the purpose of settling them in adjacent lands or regulating their number; (e) carrying out scientific and practical activities in accordance with a plan of scientific and research work of the reserve; and (f) preservation of conditions for traditional nature management by indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North. The following activities shall be prohibited in protection zone: (a) hunting, capture and destruction of animals and birds; (b) fishing; (c) timber extraction and timber rafting; (d) stay of unauthorized persons during spring and autumn passages of waterfowl: from May 1st to May 10th and from September 1st to October 15th; (e) movement of water-motor transport; (f) exploration and mining; (g) loose keeping of dogs; (h) stay of unauthorized persons who have not passed registration and briefing at the cordon of the reserve; (i) arranging halts, bivouacs, fire-making and all forms of recreational activity outside specially allotted places; (j) carrying out other activities that contradict the objectives and tasks of the protection zone. The following activities shall be authorized in the protection zone: (a) navigation in non-motorized vessels for recreational purposes; (b) stop for the night and rest in reserved places indicated by special notices; (c) recreational fishing, harvesting of berries, mushrooms and nuts within a radius of 500 m of authorized bivouacs; (d) shooting wild ungulates and brown bears for scientific research purposes and for the communal feeding of the staff of the reserve; (e) hunting, sports and recreational fishing by employees of the reserve, as well as by citizens permanently residing on the territory of protection zone for personal use; (f) scientific research; and (g) all forms of traditional nature management by the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North – residents of Tyanya village and Kudu - Kyuel village of the Olekminsky district.
