Reserve shall be located partly in the Murmansk province and partly in the Republic of Karelia with total area of 2225650 ha, including 70527 ha. Reserve shall have the following purposes: (a) conservation, recovery and reproduction of wild fauna and biological diversity, conservation of natural ecosystems; (b) research; (c) ecological monitoring; and (d) ecological education. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of reserve: (a) all types of hunting; (b) all kinds of fisheries; (c) modification of hydrological regime; (d) construction; (e) application of chemicals and fertilizers; (f) procurement of wild growing plants, berries, mushrooms, flowers and seeds; and (h) introduction and acclimatization of living organisms.
