Its main tasks are: (a) reduction of losses from diseases and non-productive expenses of cattle; (b) prevention of introduction to the national territory of pathogenic organisms of infectious animal diseases from abroad; and (c) management of veterinary service. The Central Veterinary Department shall carry out the following functions: (a) designation of preventive anti-epizootic measures; and (b) implementation of protective and quarantine veterinary measures in nidus of infectious animal disease.
