Regulation of the Agricultural Research Institute

The Regulation, which consists of 25 articles, aims to establish the Agricultural Research Institute to regulate provisions for scientific agricultural research, implement the scientific research result in the agricultural products, research on sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry, use agricultural resources efficiently and sustainably, and to increase the quality and quantity of the agricultural and livestock products. The Institute is under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock. The Institute possesses a scientific research farm and a number of local scientific stations. The Institute is obliged to apply the long-term biological agricultural research plans of the Academy of Science of Afghanistan in order to use the new technologies in agriculture. Protection of research outcome, detection of the physical, chemical and biological features of soil and prepare pedology maps, recognition of plant varieties and assembling of the collection of various plants, identification of various animal specious, and determination of the suitable quality and quantity of fertilizer for agriculture on different climatic regions are other responsibilities of the Institute. Various research departments exist within the Institute: plant breeding research department; agricultural economy research department; fruits and vegetable research department; pedology research department; plant pests and diseases research department; water and irrigation research department; agricultural machinery research department; forest and rangeland research department; animal training research department. The Institute should communicate with other national and international research institutes.
