Resumen

This Regulation approves the National Program for the Implementation of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, especially Waterfowl Habitat. Wetlands of international importance (hereinafter - Ramsar sites) in Estonia are the Soomaa and Vilsandi National Parks, the Alam-Pedja, Endla, Matsalu and Nigula Nature Reserve, the Hiiumaa Plains Reserve with Käina Bay, the Emajõgi Suursoo, Muraka and Puhtu-Laelatu-Nehatu Reserves. The Ministry of the Environment should ensure the preparation of management plans for the protection of these wetlands by 2002. To be designated as internationally important wetlands by 2010 at the latest Puhatu bog, Haapsalu Tagalaht with the remnant lakes of Noarootsi, Väike strait with the coastal strip, Avaste bog, Nätsi-Võlla bog, Agusalu bog, Mullutu-Suurlaht, Siiksaare bay, Vasknarva old meadow, Vasknarva old rivers, Rahuste coastal meadows and Lõo bay, Häädemeeste coastal meadows, Tõstamaa coastal meadows and Hari cucumber. The Ministry of the Environment should, if necessary, plan the protection of these wetlands and their inclusion in the list of Ramsar sites, and also consider the protection of other valuable wetlands and their inclusion in the list of Ramsar sites.
