It prohibits cod fshing beyond the established quotas. The total allowable catch for cod in the areas defined by the Regulation is 3 299 tonnes for the North Sea and 100 in Skagerak. Rules are laid down regulating vessel allocation accordig to fishing gear used, by-catch, use of fishing quotas throughout the year, transshipment, etc. The Directorate of Fisheries can order a fishing halt when the quotas have been fished up.
