Resumen

The Regulation applies to the fishing of herring in a specific fishing area in 2012. Norwegian vessels that are authorized to engage in fishing for herring in the North Sea and Skagerrak, may fish and land a total of 119 529 tons of herring in the North Sea south of 62° N, of which 1 220 tons are allocated for research and educational purposes. They are allowed to 3 001 tons of herring in the Skagerrak off 4 nautical miles of the Swedish and Danish coasts. Trawl-fishing (South of 62° N the allowed bycatch is equivalent to max. 20% by weight of herring for each catch and landing), purse seine fishing (Fisheries Directorate may cessate vessel quotas for vessels with purse seine permit after 10 December 2012, and these without permit after 12 October 2012), coastal fishing (vessels may fish and land for a maximum of 100 tons within the specified table under article 14). When fishing for herring, a maximum of 10% by-catch of mackerel in the weight of each catch and landing is permitted. When fishing for herring, up to 10% by-catch of mackerel in the weight of each catch and landing is permitted.
