Resumen Purpose of this Regulation is to reduce and control the incidence of lice on fish in aquaculture and wild salmon (copepodid and chalimus lice, copepods of the genus Lepeophtheirus salmonis) where treatments for control do not include cleaner-fish (Aspidontus and Plagiotremus). This Regulation applies to licensed establishments of fish farms (in accordance to Regulation No. 823 of 17 June 2008). Aquaculture facilities must present a plan for effective monitoring and control of sea lice, coordinated within a specified geographic area determined by hydrography and location of aquaculture facilities. The approved planning shall follow requirements such as time and limit of treatment (by medicament), boundary of lice, reduction of the biomass, prevention, temperature monitoring, and reported to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. In special cases, the Authority may grant exemptions from the provisions of this Regulation, provided it does not conflict with international obligations, including EEA Agreements. Plans for implementation of coordinated treatments in spring 2013 must be submitted to the Authority latest 15 February 2013. Threshold is set to a maximum of 0.5 adult female sea lice present for each fish. Aquaculture facilities in areas such as Rogaland, Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane, Møre and Romsdal, South Trøndelag shall be subject to treatment between 5 March and 10 April each year.
